Review of 9, the movie

The movie I chose to review for was "9". I have been anticipating the release of this movie for some time now, and am glad that it is finally out!

There were 19 reviews on http://www.rottentomatoes.com for "9" and I read through all of them. 7 people tagged the movie as “rotten.”Just a little over half of the viewers gave the movie a good review, the rest did not care for it. Almost everyone that submitted a review agreed that the movie lacked story, but had no complaints about the visuals, which are haunting, and set the tone for the story quite effectively.

My thoughts on the movie are similar to the majority: the story does need more substance, as it has a 90 minute slot to fill, but the animation is breathtaking. The majority of the movie consists of action sequences and chases though the wasteland. The story is very common: think “Lord of the Rings” meets “Pinocchio”. This isn’t a movie isn’t for the little kids, it barely stays within the confines of its PG-13 rating. It contains no blood, but there is plenty violence. I would give this movie a good review, as the animation is flawless, and the characters are creepily cute, and although the story is familiar it is still entertaining.

If I were a Business Web Strategist I could use this blog to promote the movie, obviously. By giving reviewers a chance to post their opinions, you could address the issues that come up: the weak story, which was overpowered by stunning animation, for example. You could give some insight to the creator’s minds as they made the movie, maybe giving a reason as to why the story was not as complex as it could be. I would measure the ROI (return of investment) by how much traffic was received daily, as well as how many posts that it generated from users. If I had the resources, I would check ticket/merchandising sales before and after the blog was started, to see if there was any favorable financial impact.
